Founder of Cash App and IT executive slain in a stabbing in San Francisco

According to a news release from the San Francisco Police Department officer

were called to a complaint of a stabbing on Main Street in the Rincon Hill district close to the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge

at around 2:35 a.m. on Tuesday. Police located a 43-year-old male with stab wounds and treated him.

Lee the chief product officer of cryptocurrency company MobileCoin was the guy slain in the stabbing

according to numerous media reports. The San Francisco Police Department declined to comment further due to the continuing investigation.

Lees death was mentioned in a statement from MobileCoin but no other information was provided.

"Our beloved friend and colleague Bob Lee passed away yesterday at the age of 43 leaving behind a loving family and a group of close friends and collaborators" stated the statement.

In addition to creating Cash App Lee has been employed by MobileCoin since 2021.

Before that he was chief technical officer at Square a payments network that has subsequently been rebranded Block.

Jake Shields a mixed martial artist reported on Twitter that Lee died while out on a stroll in San Francisco.

He was stabbed on a street near several corporate buildings including Salesforce Tower and Googles San Francisco offices

and "he was in the nice section of the city and looked to have been targeted in a random mugging/attack" Shields said.

He wrote "Really sad to hear that. "Several of the folks I know have suffered serious assaults."
