During his junior and senior years at UNC Montross now 51 was a Consensus All-American and a member of the squad that won the national title in 1993.

From 1990 to 1994 he spent four seasons with the Tar Heels averaging 11.7 points 6.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks while shooting 58.5% from the pitch in 139 games.

The family of 51-year-old Montross who works as an analyst for the Tar Heel Sports Network and was once a centre sent a statement via UNC providing an update on his health.

In order to support UNC Childrens Hospital Montross and his wife established the Eric Montross Fathers Day Basketball Camp according to The News & Observer.

From 1990 until 1994 Montross played at UNC according to Sports-Reference.com. He had an 11.7 point and 6.8 rebound average.
