8 people are hurt and 6 people are killed as a shooter opens fire in Louisville

On Monday morning a shooter opened fire inside a bank facility in downtown Louisville leaving six people dead and eight others injured including two police officers.

Gwinn-Villaroel named the gunman as Connor Sturgeon a 25-year-old worker at Old National Bank.

According to Gwinn-Villaroel who claimed to be carrying a firearm the shooting was being streamed live.

Gwinn-Villaroel stated "This shouldn't keep happening. "Evil shouldn't attempt to win and rule our city."

She remarked, "It's tragic to know that incident was out there and recorded."

Five of the eight injured individuals who were transported to the University of Louisville Hospital are receiving gunshot wound care.

According to Dr. Jason Smith from UofL Health three patients were discharged and six are still in the hospital two of whom are very ill and needed "operative care."

When asked about their situations Smith said both were remained under sedation as of 3 p.m. on Monday.
