Justin Thomas most recent gear adjustment for the Masters was motivated by Rory McIlroy

Although Rory McIlroy has attempted for 14 years this Masters is unique.

Although he once again fell short it was the final shot in McIlroys most recent bid to become just the sixth golfer to complete the career Grand Slam in the Masters era. Despite the fact that he failed he is confident that it was a turning moment in his drive to join the sport’s most exclusive fraternity. With an 8-under 64 in the final round he finished alone in second place 3 strokes down of champion Scottie Scheffler.

McIlroy has won 15 times in Europe 23 times on the PGA Tour and four major championships. Throughout his career he has held the top spot nine times the most recent occasion being only two months ago. He is once again one of the favorites to win the Masters and add the elusive green jacket to his collection having moved up to second place behind only Scheffler.

Not every experience will be positive according to McIlroy. That would make for a fairly dull life in my opinion. You must take note of the difficulties you faced as well as some of the scar tissue you developed. Last year I thought I may have lost some of the scar tissue and made some progress.

Were still waiting for him to win after 14 years.

What is required of him? Fred Couples the 1992 Masters winner stated. “Im not sure. Is it unexpected that he has never won this? It is of course [with] the way he plays puts hits it and how high and how far he hits it. It’s not that simple though.

Therefore can one last shot or round undo all that has gone wrong in the past? Ben Crenshaw is well-versed in the subject of pain and scar tissue. Despite winning the Masters twice (1984 and 1995) Crenshaw struggled in the playoffs during his PGA Tour career losing to David Graham in the PGA Championship in 1979 one of his five major championship runner-up performances.

You never forget the anguish you experienced there Crenshaw said. We’ve all experienced it therefore we’re all going to feel it to some extent. A bounce-back can occasionally occur and erase itself from your memory. It’s difficult to describe how to get rid of it.

Augusta Nationals MCILROYS SCAR TISSUE is thicker than others. He had a 4-stroke advantage going into the final round at the 2011 Masters as a 21-year-old. When paired with the fearsome Angel Cabrera in the final McIlroy displayed signs of anxiety right away.
