As a backup quarterback Cam Newton has revealed a list of nine NFL teams with which he is open to signing.
It’s quite obvious that Cam Newton wants to play in the NFL again this year after sitting out the 2022 campaign. When Newton showed up to pass to his brother at Auburns Pro Day in March he placed himself back on the NFL’s radar.
I know a lot of people have a lot to say about my future in the NFL so I wanted to clear the air by stating this is how I feel Newton stated in the video. There aren’t 32 men who are better than me but I am aware of the possibility and am ready to serve as a backup.
This list is both intriguing and perplexing at the same time. Although it appears that he would like to act as a mentor for a rookie quarterback he is also prepared to back up various seasoned pros like Rodgers Jackson and Watson.
Newton also stated that he would be open to filling in for Bryce Young C.J. Stroud and Anthony Richardson in addition to those nine teams. These three quarterbacks are among the best in this years draft class and if they are selected it will give us three more clubs for a total of 12 that Newton would be open to joining.
Additionally signing with the Dolphins wouldn’t be a horrible choice. Since Tagovailoa has had difficulties keeping healthy he may receive some playing time if Newton wins the backup position if Tua is unable to remain on the field.
In Chicago it could probably work if Newton is the starters mentor if he is the backup. Fields would likely be overjoyed to get instruction from a former NFL MVP.
